Should the tips of the prongs (where they are bent over the stone touch the stone or just where it''s notched? Any close-up pictures of how prongs should look would help

Mine have always touched very lightly. Basically a piece of hair or fuzz can get caught underneath, but that''s about it.

I am afraid that a ring which I am having set with my sapphire is not correct. I''ve taken it back once and will get it this weekend but it didn''t look right to me. I wanted to see some side pics.

This is exactly how my prongs are as well. Any pictures of the prong(s) you are questioning?

Unfortunately my ring is at the jewelers to be fixed so no pics. I took it straight back. After looking at the link Pyramid posted I see also that my prongs were not pushed all the way down as should have been in addition to the snag or rough spot on the one prong and the stone not being set correctly.

Thanks for the pics that just justifies my concern over the prongs.

So depressed until I get my ring and see if it''s correctly fixed.
