I am waiting on an e-ring to be delivered tomorrow by FEDEX, but had a question that just came up... The setting is platinum and is a 4 prong setup, but it has two small, side by side prongs at each of the 4 prongs. Has anyone ever seen this setup? Is it good, bad, custom or not as different as I think? I am at work and cannot post a picture, sorry. Any advice is welcome.

I''m not sure if I have the name correct but what I think you''re describing are double claw prongs. They are pretty common from what I''ve seen here, on PS. They''re not good or bad, just personal preference.

I''m not sure if the look of the prongs change once the diamond is set, but right now the points of the prongs are rounded. I have seen the claws and they wrap around the top of the diamond and look like claws. These prongs are rounded and blunt. Is this what it is supposed to look like before they set the diamond? Will it then look like claws? Sorry, but I am very new at all this.

Hey there CptRon,

A photo of the ring would be great to see those prongs but I know a lot of designer use that double prong look. I don''t think it''s a safety issue but in my opinion if you have eight prongs holding the diamond rather than four, it should be safer. But then again some people may not want to see too much metal or cover the diamond.

My guess would also be double-claw prongs (which are divine!)
