My diamond education is increasing dramatically these days!

Is there a difference between a claw and a prong?

I have ordered the sleek line legato setting for my e-ring. I don''t want the claw/prong to be too bulbous at the diamond. The smoother the better as far as I am concerned. What is the correct terminology for this so I can properly express to WF what I would like. I am not sure from their website what the sleek line setting comes with, but the claws/prongs look quite prominent to me.

Am I making sense?

it''s the same. the opposite of bulbous would be tapered, IMO.

The prong is the whole part of the metal piece which holds the diamond from the base of the mounting to the termination point on the diamond, tell WF that you prefer the prongs to be delicate and have a '' claw shaped'' finish, they should know what you mean. They should be able to tailor the finish of the prongs to your requirements within reason.

Ah Lorelei! You are a legend.
Thank you!!!

It may also help to find photos of exactly the prong/claw style you want and send it to them. Sometimes it''s hard to articulate our vision using just words, you know?
