Progress of the Rescue in Thailand

When I went to bed last night four boys from the Wild Boars soccer team had been rescued from the cave in Thailand where they had been trapped. "The New York Times", just a minute ago, updated he report from five people to seven that have been rescued from the cave. I am sure many of you are following this as I have been. As most of you know, there has been a death of a heroic diver who ran out of oxygen while participating in efforts to save the boys and their coach. So far, the four boys in the hospital are in stable condition although they cannot receive visitors (and, therefore, see their families) due to the risk of infection.
 
I've just read 8 have been rescued and they took the most critical first? I've been following this story very closely, on the edge of the my seat.
 
Yes, I’m following it too. I read 8 had been rescued. Crossing my fingers they are all out safely.
 
I am stress following. The action happens when I'm asleep, but I have the news on almost all day!
 
I am amazed that they have been so successful thus far. Maybe the kids are young and haven't developed irrational fears like claustrophobia. These rescuers are some seriously brave people. I used to dive, but in an underwater cave through a long narrow passageway? Include me out.
 
Four boys and the coach are still in the cave. Elon Musk is sending a miniature submarine there to try to get them out. Keeping my fingers crossed.
 
I am so curious to learn how the boys ended up there. It doesn’t sound like a location that’s easy to access.

Regardless, glad they’re being rescued!

I am adding my prayers to yours, Sharon. Let's hope that between acts of good will, like that of the diver who gave his life; science; and the prayers of people all over the world (the 1,000 points of light); all 13 people who were trapped will come out safely.

They were on a field trip with their coach. It’s monsoon season, and they were swept down into the cave, in flood waters. Most, if not all, of the boys do not know how to swim. The rescue teams have been trying to help them learn how to swim enough to get out, and their coach has kept them going with meditation. They have been down there close to two weeks, with no food or clean drinking water. I believe the rescue teams have tried to at least provide them with some source of hydration and nutrition, but they extracted the weakest, and most critical, first.
As of this morning, US EST, 8 Boys had been rescued, and none are permitted visitors. 4 boys & their coach remained. I have not heard any updates since 10amEST, this morning.
Heavy rains are expected to come, again...monsoon season lasts a while, and severe rain can come out of nowhere & dump buckets of rain in a short period of time. This rescue is so dangerous. Thank God for the brave men & women who have risked so much for these boys. As a mother, it’s so very touching.
Prayers are up for all 13 to come out, alive!
 
The last radio report I heard was optimistic, which does not mean that everything will be OK. It just means that the dire news was a tiny bit less dire. The rescuers had succeeded in lowering the water level a tiny bit so that when they make the final push for the last five people (the four boys and the coach who remain) they hope it will go quickly. The people swimming can now have their heads above water for some of the time, the reporter said. They were waiting to make one final push after all the oxygen and equipment was ready.

Prayers are outgoing.

Thank you! For some odd reason I read several articles and none mentioned that they were swept there by flooding.
 
It is such a wonderful story. Those young boys and their coach trapped underground in the dark for 9 days with no food and just getting water from moisture on the cave walls.
That coach is a hero beyond reproach in my eyes. Yes he made a mistake in going further inside to avoid the rising waters but he somehow keep all those boys calm and focused for 9 days. Can you imagine how long that would feel, how he must have worked so hard to keep their morale up for so long. Incredible.
As for the rescuers, what a team, Amazing dedication. I am feeling positive that all will be safely rescued.
My heart goes out to the family of the diver who tragically lost his life whilst trying to rescue these boys and their coach. A true hero.
And apparently the parents haven’t seen their kids because they don’t want parents to know whose kids are safe and whose are still to be rescued. They want them all out and all safe.

I’m so happy for all of the rescued boys! As a mother I can’t imagine how the parents of the boys have suffered in these days, what they had to make through. I just really hope, that all of them can be rescued.

Just one boy left and their coach are a remaining in the cave as well as a few of the rescuers who have stayed with them during this rescue period. It appears as though this very well may be 100% successful!!
 
I woke up to the great news that only two people remain trapped with the rescue divers! Thank you for all the updates, Matthews1127!

I had to read the news before going to work! How wonderful!! May those boys and the coach gain strength and recover well.

Wow Fantastic news! Both the rescuers and the trapped boys and coach have shown such tremendous courage. This could have had such a different ending. I feel very emotional about it.
 
So grateful everyone came together to help save these children and their coach. I can’t even imagine the hell these kids and their families have been through. I found it especially touching that parents were letting the coach know they did not place blame on him. I wondered of how the coach would go on if he lived and some of the children didn’t.

Now if only our country would feel a sense of urgency to unite the 2,000 children who have been separated from their parents.
 
God I LOVE happy endings!! This is nothing short of miraculous!
 
I read the news while I was on a training course, so I told all the other delegates. So happy for them and their parents. :mrgreen2: Hope they are all ok and aren't in hospital too long, so they can be reunited with their families.

Praise the Lord!! I have been sick over this, and I cannot begin to imagine how the boys parents must have felt...
