Hello!

New to the forum and trying to get my bearings around the online-diamond shopping scene.

I have currently been focusing my efforts on finding a cushion cut with the following properties (based off ALOT of reading of these forums):

Weight: >2.0ct
Color: I or better
Cut: Excellent (I know some retailers won't provide a cut rating for the cushions)
Clarity: VS2 or better
Symmetry: Very Good or better
Polish: Excellent
Table/Depth both between 60-69
Fluorescence: Medium or less
Price: Less than $12K

I am hoping to set the stone in the Sylvie SY652 setting: http://www.sylviecollection.com/modern-round-brilliant-diamonds-engagement-ring-sy652

Long story short, I came across a diamond on B2C Jewels via PriceScope and wanted to get some feedback from some of you who know your stuff. This particular diamond has both ASET and Idealscope images, as well as a real image of the diamond so any help would be appreciated! Also, if you have any guidance on my search criteria (I know there is alot of debate around the importance of Symmetry vs. Polish) I would love to hear it!! Thanks in advance!!

I'm confused - you want an opinion about a specific diamond but you don't post any info regarding the specific diamond?

You cannot see a difference between vg and ex symmetry by the definition of symmetry in a lab report.
Definitely can't see a difference a difference in vg and ex polish.

Can you post the ASET + IdealScope images so we can evaluate?

Do you love the patterning? The huge contrast in the middle stands out as weird/strange to my eye. I am starting to understand how to interpret ASETs better now from the "buckets of dazzling ice" thread, so a lot of red isn't necessarily good and a lot of white isn't necessary good; it depends on how much and where they are.

Thanks for all of the feedback!

I'm not in LOVE with the original stone, there is something that strikes me as visually odd about it but being new to this, I thought that maybe it was just that particular image. I know how hard it is to judge a diamond's looks on a computer screen

When compared to the stone at Good Old Gold, there doesn't even seem to be a comparison that the GOG stone looks magnitudes nicer. But for me, its hard to tell if that is just because the photos are better from GOG or if the stone is just that much nicer.

I believe that the GOG cushion will be more pleasing to most people's eye. Not only because it has a lot of red and green, but the distribution and location of that distribution makes it highly appealing and sparkly.

Has anyone had any experience with Since1910.com? I found this diamond in their inventory, and have reached out to request ASET images. Here is a link to the diamond:

They are a reputable company...that photo is just a sample photo so it could be anything. Post aset and pictures when you
get them.

Edit...
This might be worth looking at...

Does 1910 even provide an ASET? I don't think they do, the picture is a generic sample picture and the numbers do not provide any clues.

...I dont know. *I* wouldn't look there if they dont do asets...just not enough information. I should have said post aset and pics
"if" you get them not "when" you get them 8) .

Tyty,
In looking back at my post, I hope it didn't come off as condescending. If so, I apologize. It is difficult to sound neutral without the ability to add any vocal inflection or body language online. I truly don't know if they do and if they don't, I agree with you that I would look elsewhere too.

No dice on the ASET, all they could give me was 100x magnification...

It looks very, very mushy under the table to me. I personally would avoid.

Agreed, avoid.
