Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has seen the new princess cut, PrincessPlus? I saw it advertised in a fashion magazine and it looks beautiful!

Please respond if you''ve seen one in person!

Another branded gimick cut with extra facets.
Sometimes they can look better but a lot of the time its all marketing hype.
They are also usualy way overpriced.
Time will tell.

They are following debeers orders and creating a brand to try and lock out the compitition imho its just another way for debeers to try and continue their stranglehold on the diamond marketplace.

Not sure if an ad on paper is the best way to judge these stones. All the small facets create a different look than the usual princess cut. This is very obvious in larger stones: starting between 1.5 and 2cts. I do not know if a set of strict cut parameters are applied for these stones (except for the number of facets, of course). They come with an analysis of light return, but fire is their strong point. Also, there is a premium for this cut, as for any other branded diamond.

It may be worth seeing some and a brilliant 'standard' princess to get a good impression of what all the extra facets do. At least some of the appeal of the brand resides in the comparison with poorly cut non-branded princesses - the majority of them, actually.

I do think there are amazing princess stones out there. The problem is, you can't judge them on the numbers...it's not as easy to figure out as with rounds....when you see one- you'll know it- branded or not!

and I agree that those mag ads are so phony. The stone never looks like that in person.

Thanks for the website link - out of curiousity, I checked out where they're sold in the NY/NJ area & it seems they're only sold in mall(-type) stores - just Littmans & Barclays...... hmmmm.....

Hi, I wanted to post a picture of my princess but the site won't allow it since it is already on here. Look at my pic under "Chronicle of working with an appraiser", file pic labeled Princess-measurement.jpg

I mention it because I do think that there are some awesome princess stones out there that are not branded (look at the facets on my pic from the appraiser). It's just that one needs a professional who has a good eye to help one find it. I was fortunate to find Rhino from Good old Gold. Without such help of someone who also has a good "toolset" to assist their eye with finding a winner, it's a needle in the haystack game. I had 16 stones from all over the country brought in to local brick and mortars and, though some were nice, they just didn't have the brilliance and fire that becomes a differentiator.

Does anyone know what this new brand's pricing is like?
