Hi All,

After looking at this diamond for awhile, it seems to me the table might look too small. It isn''t the usual table i''ve seen on other princess cuts. Can you please give me your advice?

I don''t know much about table sizes in princess cuts, but from what I can remember of looking at others, it seems to be a bit on the small side. However, this is a great looking stone, IMO, and I honestly haven''t seen that many that actually have a L/W of 1.00. I love the fact that its perfectly square. Can you get an ASET or IS image of this diamond? That would really help evaluate it.

Sorry about that. I didn''t remember seeing the other post! Well, from these two images, this looks like a great stone to me! Its from WF, so I believe that if you get it and don''t like it, you still have a return period. But personally, this looks like a great stone!! If somebody else with more knowledge than me comes along and knows about effects of table size, that would be great, but I don''t know of any problems with it. As long as it performs like you want it to, I''d say you''re all set!

It is a beautiful diamond and the table isn't too small - no worries.

Thanks.. Yes, it is 66%.. Sorry i''m just getting nervous at this point

It looks great! I prefer the table to be smaller than the depth myself. Less of an aircraft carrier look.

I understand, it is a beautiful diamond though!

I am afraid that table size or other proportions are not a good guide to judging the cut quality for a princess diamond.

Unlike round brilliant diamonds, there are no defined range of proportions which can be used to predict in advance whether a princess cut diamond is well-cut. The AGS has the only system capable of grading fancy shapes as their grading takes into account light performance rather than diamond proportions.

Hence, go by the ASET and idealscope pictures which look good.

Paul Sleger has written an interesting article which discusses princess cut diamonds and how different they are from a numbers (depth, spread) perspective they are compared to round brilliant diamonds.
