princess question`

I have a question. I don''t know what you call it, but I prefer when princess diamonds have a little black coloring inside of them. Is there a term for that? Does anyone else like it when there is black coloring in princesses, or is this considered a bad thing or is it just the way it looks in pictures?? I am meeting my jeweler next weekend to look at princesses and would like to explain what I mean, but don''t want him to come out with a bunch of bad clarity diamonds since this is not what I mean. I''ve posted examples of both princesses without as much black and one with the black I like........

Those are probably leakage, confirm it with an Idealscope image. But it will be different from what you will see a stone in person as the JA images was taken in a special setup.

Not sure what you mean by black - maybe you''re referring to contrast?

FWIW, the "fair" cut diamonds looks much better than the "good" cut one in terms of cut quality. It''s of course noticeably off-square and cut on the deep side, so I guess that''s why it got a "fair" rating.

Not sure what you mean here amy, do you mean the tiny areas of scattered black throughout the first diamond is what you like and the black X shape in the second isn''t what you want?

I think the black that I like is what someone else called contrast. I like the black that is scattered around the second diamond, but maybe that is a bad thing? Maybe that''s leakage? The black X doesn''t bother me, but is that considered a bad thing as well?

Yup, when I refer to contrast, I mean that a small amount of leakage or obstruction in a symmetric distribution can be good because it provides visual contrast. What I don''t like about the second diamond is the kite-shaped area under the table that appears blurry and not as crisp as the rest. That''s leakage working in a bad way.
