Here is the stone that I am giving very serious consideration to. http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/2560/ I would like to know what everyone here thinks. I have been on Pricescope on and off for a number of months, have learned a lot, have gotten confused on a lot of very important details, have gone back and forth, have even gotten frustrated at times. But I am grateful for this group and the "actual" extra enjoyment I have gained by learning about and taking a bigger part in the selection of the one diamond for my one true love. So thank you all.

Looking for honest opinions both pro and con.

Great looking stone - and hard to get size

Aah, I love Good Old Gold. Their website is so thorough when it comes to the stones themselves. To me, it looks like you have selected a real winner-- love that red saturation on the idealscope!

triple zeros- can't go wrong there! It's fabulous.
noticed it's on hold- CONGRATS!

I love everything about it!!!! GREAT job!!!!!!

Thanks for the opinions. It was a suggestion by Jonathan and it seemed to meet all my criteria since the first one I was looking at a bit earlier had been scarfed up already. A bit bigger than I was looking for. But what girl "really" thinks size doesn''t count? Anyway I talked to Dave Atlas and it will soon be off to him for an Imagem assessment for light behavior. Assuming it meets the criteria (and that part gets a bit fuzzy for me) than its off to Mark Morrell for creation. What a Long Strange Trip It''s Been.....already.

But thanks again everyone. I''ll keep you posted.

it's been AGSified, all the light analysis that Jon has (PGS, Diam Calc, Helium, Gemex,) and you also want Imagem.

I just don't see how one more test is going to say, this stone passes/does not pass one final criterion that has not already been tested.

Hi JulieN. I think the best answer is to look at the number of posts you have and the number I have. If we use the same ratio on knowledge that makes you about 300 times more knowledgeable than me. And that probably isn''t a stretch with you and many of the other people on this list.

I have done the best that I could to learn about this stuff and I read info on the Imagem and I was intrigued. I know Jonathan knew what I was looking for and I know Dave is familiar with the Imagem. I hate to admit but I am putting a lot of trust in all of this information. Everything that I have seen so far tells me its a good stone. Assuming this one test raises a concern, well I guess I''ll try to learn more about that issue. I am hoping...maybe blindly...that this extra test simply will support everything else.

Bottom line is I am dangerous to myself right now. I have enough knowledge to think I know what I''m doing, but enough brains to know that I don''t.

But truth be told....you''re probably right

Looks gorgeous!

The final test is, of course, your eyes. Why don't you have it shipped to you some time before sending it to be set?

You might think that you haven't seen enough stones to be a good judge. But if you put yourself to it, you'll learn much faster than you think you will.

Short answer......it wouldn''t be much help

Long answer and probably too much information for such a simple question but here goes....I collect old woodworking and blacksmithing tools, often mistaken for rusty metal by many. I have learned in my life that many women like shiny things and many men cannot appreciate that. I reached the conclusion that it was not up to me what anyone (she) should like. I have simply learned to appreciate her as well as the joy she gets from jewelry. As a result I try to buy her a nice piece at least once a year. Gotta teach her how to buy tools for me, but there''s a website for that too.

I have done my B&M research and found that I could tell beautiful stones from garbage, but nuances were beyond me. About a year ago (can''t believe it was that long ago) we started talking and looking at things together. I realized that she would be happy with Kay''s as long as it was a nice diamond, but what are the odds of that. I also know the parameters which she wants. The only one is that it be a Princess cut. The rest has been up to me. Now the ring design, that''s where I have pulled together a lot of information from her, but the stone...she had no input other than princess cut.

So if I get her the best princess cut I can find in my price range I will be very happy. She will be well beyond happy as she has no idea as to the quality that I am looking to get for her. As for whether there is a slightly better one out there, that may be. Could I tell the difference. I can honestly say I haven''t been able to yet.

You will also note that there are many of us newbies who come to you to ask for that final opinion (or reassurance) even in light of ideal scopes, numbers, etc. This site alone and the people who populate it is far and away much better than anyhting that is available in the real world of bricks and mortar. So in sum, everyone''s thoughts here as well as the reputations and opinions of those vendors who seem to have weathered many a transaction and have maintained the highest degree of integrity is really what matters to me and many of us newbies. I know that I am looking at the Best and the Best of the Best...no matter what I choose at this level I am sure it will be near perfect at worst.
