Is there a big difference in size between a 1 carat and 0.8 carat? Most 0.8 carats are almost half the cost of 1 carat. When you set them side by side, does it make a big difference? is it worth buying the bigger stone?
Carat is a measurement of weight. Some 0.8 carat stones could measure the same size as a 1 carat stone dependent on its depth. However, when comparing 2 stones of the same quality cut, the 0.8 ct stone is marginally smaller than the 1 ct stone. Side by side, yes, you''ll see a different. If not side by side, probably not. Getting a 0.9ct stone is a great way to stretch your budget - get the look of a 1 carat stone without paying for the price jump of a 1 ct stone.
