Hello everyone,
I have just begun my search for the perfect diamond. I have not yet gone to an real store, although after reading all the positive feedback on this site with regards to e-tailers, there may be no reason too.
Two diamonds that I am currently looking at are:
Shape: Princess
Carat Weight: 1.262ct
Color: G
Clarity: VS1
AGS Cut Grade: Ideal*
GIA Cut Grade: NA*
Optical Symmetry: Ideal
Polish: Ideal
Symmetry: Ideal
Fluorescence: Negligible
Girdle: 2.08%
Lab Report: AGS
Width: 5.82mm
Length: 6.02mm
Depth: 4.40mm
Table Percentage: 69.28%
Depth Percentage: 75.65%
Crown Depth: 12.13%
Pavilion Depth: 60.88%
Price: $8,978.87
(Bank wire price: $8,675.24)
and
http://www.bluenile.com/diamonds_details.asp?pid=LD00340620
I realize that the latter rock has better clarity and color, although the cut on the first seems to be perfect and also significantly cheaper.
That being said, what option is more value? Is there really that much of a difference from a D color to a G, or VVS1 to a VS1? (In terms of what the naked eye can see, especially when mounted).
From what I have read, cut seems to be a much larger factor which has me leaning more towards the goodoldgold choice.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Dave
