First off, hello all. I''ve been lurking here for some time reading up, watching videos, reading more, and learning a ton! Thank you all in advance for your help and understanding in this complex market of diamonds.

I have a few jeweler friends looking around for loose stones that might fit what I am looking for currently. My goals are a near ideal cut, excellent performing, 1.75-2.0ct Princess. I am willing to accept (as I''ve learned) D-H in color, VS1-SI2 (if eyeclean from 10") in clarity, but really want the diamond to perform well.

I have had the hardest time finding out near ideal measurements on the elusive princess cut diamonds (but I know this is what she wants :)).

What I think I do know?
1) Don''t bother with Princess cuts that don''t have a greater depth than table proportion as they typically perform poorly.
2) Ask for an ideal scope or ASET pic.
3) Gather all measurements of the diamond for best analysis of cut quality and proportions.

Now my questions...
From the ideal cut measurements found here
http://diamonds.pricescope.com/fnc1.asp
It suggests that the ideal L/W ratio is 1.5-1.75. Is this infact true? I thought a 1.0 (perfect square) was desirable?

Secondly, can anyone help me go through step by step to analyze a diamond a friend has pointed out to me as fitting my needs?
Diamond Data:
Princess Cut
2.0 Ct
E color
SI2 clarity (with inclusion in upper left, he claims will be covered by most prongs and not visible to untrained eye)
Measurements
6.97 x 6.85 x 4.94 mm
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Fluorescence: Strong Blue

Should I be concerned about the strong blue flouro in an F quality diamond? (from what I have read - this is a negative in the higher color grades potentially including E)...

Most importantly, how are the cut proportions to estimate the diamond''s performance?

Is approx 13k a fair estimate for a diamond with these stats?

I have already requested more size info on Table size, Pavilion depth, pavilion angle, Crown height, Crown angle, and Girdle ...I think that''s everything I''d need correct?

Thank you so much in advance and I apologize for the longer post with multiple question.

SI2 covered by prong could be likely to break during setting or wear. Will the vendor set it at his risk?
More data will not help - i think you need an independant appraiser to take your worries and put them in an old kit bag

Garry,
This diamond aside, do you have any more input on the topic of the ideal cut/dimensions for an approx 2ct Princess?

I''d love to revisit the topic of the perfect Princess cut diamond if you wouldn''t mind.

Are my assumptions made in my post correct? Do I really want a 1.5-1.75 L/W ratio? Is the strong blue flouro going to significantly impact the stone''s performance at E color?

Did you feel by quick look that 13k is the +/- range for that stone? (mods - feel free to edit if not able to be discussed openly here)

Thanks!

Here is a pic of the actual diamond that was sent along with the info:
