Wow, two years to wait for a ring! You are one patient woman!
It depends on the design of the ring, whether or not you can change the head. For some rings, changing the prongs isn''t an issue but for other rings, you have no choice. For example, I just can''t see V-prongs in an X-prong setting. Tell your bf now about your concerns so he can see if the head can be altered at all.
I have a cathedral setting with the V-prongs for my princess diamond and 2 weeks ago I noticed my diamond was extremely loose. The V-prong did their job by keeping the stone in there until I got it to my jeweler the next day.
If the prongs can''t be changed, just have your ring checked my jeweler every few months so they can tighten them. I take my every 3 months for a prong check and polishing.
Hello! Thank you so much! I wasn''t sure if I had posted this correctly - since I didn''t see any responses, so I posted another one!
I also managed to take 2 photos of the current head that is sitting on the ering. The last pic of the 3 is one that shows what I''d like.. I don''t know what a cathedral setting is .. all I know is that I''d like the Vs to protect the corners of the princess... Could you help me with that please? I can''t manage to find photos ANYWHERE of the different types of heads... I spoke to my bf and he said that he will get the jewelers to do WHATEVER it is I''d like... so I don''t want to waste any of their time and/or my bfs money .. until I''m absolutely sure....
