Hi Team,

I am from New Zealand and travelling to the US next week and was hopinh to get an engagement ring sent to meet me. I have looked around the forums and am pretty happy choosing one of the dealers reccommended within pricescope.

In particular I found a ring that I love and am after a particular diamond for it: It needs to be 1.07ct, VS2, colour E and preferably GIA certified (these C''s have sentimental reasons behind them) .

This is the diamond I''m thinking of getting:
http://www.abazias.com/database/CertWin.asp?stock=61265248 priced at $5,060.

And here is the ring for it to be set in:
http://www.abazias.com/database/NewEngagementInfo.asp?stock=ENG-S-14-9290 priced at $370

The ring is exactly what I''m after but my GF needs a size 4.75 ring for her fingers and this ring is 3mm in width. Can anyone tell me if this ring might be too wide for her relatively skinny fingers? 3mm on a ruler seems very thick but I don''t think this is how it is measured exactly. Any suggestions?

Also does Abazias have a good reputation for ordering online and do you guys agree that this is a fair price for this diamond?

Your help is greatly appreciated.... waiting anxiously :)

Hi Kiwidude,

Really we need photos and an ASET image of a fancy shape like a Princess in order to judge it properly, at best all a few numbers give us are a chalk outline of the stone.

If you aren't sure what ASET is and its use, this link explains.

If you could ask Abazias if they can provide the above info then that would be a great help. The very thick part of the girdle isn't desirable but this can depend. Ask the vendor how much of the girdle is very thick, if it is only a tiny portion then it might be ok.

Here are some other vendors you can look at who sell in house Princess of top cut quality. Cut is essential for the beauty of the diamond.

3mm is not overly wide at all, so I wouldn''t worry. I''ll give you a couple pics for reference. I wear a size 5.5 ring. An ering that is 3.5ish mm on the finger, along with a wband that is 3.5mm. So we''re talking 7mm of ring here.

And ditto Lorelei on the stone, and cut!
