Like many others have said, this site is a gold mine! Lot''s of great information but I''m still stuck :S

I''m looking for a princess cut diamond e-ring, At or above 1 carat, 1-1.25. Eye clean for sure, colorless would be great too.
My budget is probably around 8K for the stone probably 9-10K all in, including tax & shipping to Canada. Setting will be solitaire so that simplifies it a bit.

BN was a great place to start but after learning about ASET''s and idealscope pictures, they just don''t cut it.
I couldn''t find anything in Whiteflash''s ACA which was what I was hoping to find. (Maybe I''m using this search engine wrong! lol)

What do you all think about this Jame''s Allen stone? http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/E-VS1-Ideal-Cut-Princess-Diamond-1257448.asp
1.02, E, VS1, Ideal Cut, Depth: 73.8%, Table: 60.0%
A couple imperfections from the GIA. No ASET link that I could see....

Another one I was considering at Good Old Gold: http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/5773/
1.04, E, VS2, Ideal Cut, Table 66.34%, Depth 73.40% Crown ∠: 30.52° Pavilion ∠: 41.02°
ASET Image shows more green than red and a fair bit of leakage what looks to be around the table? Overall, AGS gave it an Ideal 0.

Open to other options of course! I''ll be adding on to this thread as I keep finding stones of interest.
Thanks everyone

i noticed no one has responded yet, so what i''ll do is fix your links for you.. it makes it easier for others to read, ill bump this thread, and then ill look for something you might be interested.

I know whiteflash doesn''t have much posted on their web site right now.

Your best bet is to call them, tell them your criteria, and have them locate a diamond for you. They will send you pictures of the diamond, ideal scope, and ASET once they get it. They did that for me and i LOVE my princess cut that i got from them.

Second, Talk to lesley at

Fixing the link. The good old gold canadian diamond, not bad.. but you can do better i think!

And heres the one from JA, no images so i cant really comment.

The GOG rock looks really nice! The ASET has a nice even distribution of red and great contrast. Also, it''s both AGS0 and hand-picked by GOG - can''t go wrong.

The JA rock has potential, but we can''t really say anything else about it until we get images. Which means you would have to call them, put it on hold, and ask for an IS and ASET. It seems to be a little bit tilted in the photo, so I''d also ask for another.

Any particular reason you''re looking at E color? There''s a substantial price premium that comes with D-E-F. You could easily drop to G-H and not notice a difference at all, especially when it''s set.

That''s odd, I thought the links would make URL''s themselves.

I''ll be setting the diamond on a platinum band. I don''t mind going to G-H as long as it''s still has the white appearance. I was targeting the more of an F grade since that is the lowest colorless grade without actually having color. It would be one of the things I''d compromise on to get a better cut.

I''ll contact JA to get IS, ASET and new pictures.
The GOG is nice, do you think the leakage will be an issue? How do I know if it''ll have nice ''fire'' to the stone without seeing it in person.

thx for the help! sorry for all the questions

G-H is near colorless and is fine with a Platinum setting

Yup, G-H is fine in platinum. I have an I color princess, and it''s beautiful in platinum. If you''re color-sensitive and concerned about a completely white appearance, I''d probably draw the line at H in a princess.

About leakage and fire, take a look at the videos that Jon put up and see for yourself! Also, if you see 2 diamonds you''re trying to decide between at GOG, Jon can make you another video to help with your decision.

Hm I didn''t notice that link at GOG for the video. The diamond actually does sparkle quite well. The price is good too, I''m really liking it.

I checked out a few stones at actual stores and wasn''t as impressed. At Spence Diamonds they were selling a 1.0 VVS1 H for 9503 (stone only). A 0.97 cushion VS2 J was 6111.
Birks had a 1.0 VS2 F for 13000 (USD) with platinum setting. Graded by GIA as good polish, good symmetry. Depth was 74.5% and table was 71% (hopefully I didn''t mix the two numbers up). Markup is definitely huge for brand and the numbers don''t point to that superior of a stone. They didn''t have it in the store so I''m hoping to check the downtown location and see if they have it.

Not a whole lot more came up on either JA or GOG with the G-I color. I''ve left an email with WF to see if they have anything.

You could try Jareds, their Peerless brand includes AGS0 Princess so that could give you a good comparison of how a well cut Princess can look.

WF didn''t have an ACA stones, they said there was a lack of AGS0 stones in the market so it made selection pretty thin.

Jared looks like a retail store only in the USA

I forgot you were in Canada, that won''t work then obviously. With the vendors mentioned above, you can buy from them with confidence and they do have good return policies if in the unlikely event you weren''t happy ( assuming it isn''t difficult to send diamonds back to the US from Canada).

It''s been a while but WF finally has an ACA 1.01 Princess! What do the pros think?
