I have been browsing on the online suppliers and find myself starting at G Vs2 and then starting to inch higher and higher in colour and clarity, and then its like wait up, I dont want to pay too much, so what stats do I need to look at for a good pair of earrings. Would H be oK? Any table : depth ratios, cut etc that I need to really pay close attention to, or because of the size if I get v good, polish, symmetry etc it will be fine? argghh I wish I could see the stones, but alas have to go by the numbers. My anniversery band will be in FG colour, but they wont be directly near each other IYKWIM

So what would you suggest for princess cut will give me a good white, sparkly stone? I really have no clue about princess cut

Firstly Princess cut are not the best for earrings because they return light from directions that are often obscured by face and hair. Shallowish rounds work better.
You will still get some benefits from better color - espaecially in princess which can appear a color grade lower than well cut round.
But you or no one else will ever see an SI2 inclusion when the stones are in your ears, and as long as it is a decent sized inclusion and not a very hard to see cloud - the stone will be just as bright as a flawless stone

Thanks Garry,
So apart from brilliant round cuts, what would you recommend for earrings. Princess seems to be the next best from what I can see, but then, I really havnt seen any other shapes in the stores around here except for those two cuts. Inteesting comment about the colour aspect, will make sure if I continue down this path will choose a good colour and take up your recommendation about the SI. Thanks

cheers

If Princess is your preference then use ASET to find stones with as much blue and read as possibe
