This forum seems to say for RB''s, that H colour is a good value point to hit, and retain a white face-up. Some even say that I/J can still be white face up.

The forum also says that princess/fancies show more colour. However, the forum is often discussing stones in the 1 through to 3 carat range. These larger stone obviously have more body to show a tint.

What I want to knowe is will a well-cut H colour princess in the 0.5 to 0.7 carat range face up white?

I want to put one on a white gold band, and a diamond trader told me the other day not to go below F.

cheers

I would think H/I would work nicely and so would F. Chances are most people would not see the difference! A professional... well, I guess. But who is hoing to grade your ring for color? They would need to take the stone out, put it on a white background and use a good amount of experinece to tell that your stone is H not F! I hope this is not what people in your peer group do to each others rings day in and day out.

You might want a little brilliant stone - so the ring ends up with a speck of sparkle

, not necesarily top color and clarity which would not show off given size.

Just my 0.2, of course.

I WOULDN'T GO BELOW G/H. THE PRINCESS CUT IS SO BRILLIANT THAT COLOUR IS IMPORTANT. AT THE LAST SECOND I UPGRADED TO AN F COLOUR FROM A G
