hi, I''m new to the forum and need some advice on a diamond--

I found a diamond I really liked as far as size, color, and clarity, but I''m concerned with that last "c"- cut. At the jeweler''s the stone looked really nice, but I am concerned about the cut- I don''t want to purchase this stone and then end up with a stone with a poor cut or light performance once I get out from under the lights of the jeweler''s counter...
I''ve attached the GIA Cert.

Also, how do you tell the cut or light performance of a stone by going off a certificate. Obviously, the stone looked nice in the jewelery store but I didn''t have any tools to measure its light performance (i.e. Aset, etc.) What does one do in this situation?
thanks

Unfortunately you can't evaluate the cut quality by the grading report, or even if we had all the numbers, fancy shapes need to be seen to be judged. If you have time, you could order an ASET scope to check the diamond out prior to purchase, see details below. They are quite straightforward to use and interpret and could be very helpful to you.

Other than that, ask if you can check the diamond out away from the store lights, as anything will sparkle in jewellery store lighting, to see if the diamond still appeals to you. Alternatively, see if the jeweller can show you some AGS0 cut grade Princess which should be excellent performers and take a lot of the uncertainty out of the purchase. But the main thing is if you find this diamond beautiful, then it is worth taking the time to check it out as best you can. Also an independant appraiser might be able to help you if you can make the sale final on the diamond checking out, they might be able to advise you on the cut. See this tool here to find one in your area. https://www.pricescope.com/appr_list.aspx

Thanks for the advice and helpful info!
