This is scary! The cut goes against all standards and the price could be substantially less even for a much better cut stone.
This cut deserves some discount, in my opinion. However, average cut stones are listed at around 2200/ct (around $1300 for the weight). No idea what the premium on your stone stands for.
It is a typical example of a stoone cut only to retain the maxiumum weight. It may be attractive, but the face up appearance will be singificantly smaller than you'd expect from a 57 pointer. But... Are you sure it is 81% depth and 70.6% table and not viceversa? GIA lists the table measurement rounded to the nearest full %. So in this case it sounds confusing.
Anyway, it's waaaaaay too expensive. It should be at least $0.5K cheaper.
Sorry about having two posts going. I had the stone help with a deposit. I have since asked the check to be voided and canceled the order. I need to understand what the table means, as well as depth. I want a high quality diamond for an engagement ring for my special fiancee to be. I'm looking for a .45-.80 size ring that's way this .57 appealed to me. But I have tried to do my research and I'm just confused. I looked at the AGA chart but still what would be the ideal (affordable) stone in the .45 -.80 carat range? My budget cap is 2200 for the stone. What depth, table, and other caracteristics should I look for. I want VS2 or higher and Color from D-F, symmetry and polish good-exellent. Thoughts? Help?
Also I plan to set it in 18K yellow gold with 4-prong plantium if that makes any difference in the diamond's girdle.
