My friend is wanting to design a 3 stone princess cut engagement ring in rose gold, and is wondering what are good ratios between the centre stone and the two side stones. She was thinking .70 centre and .50 sides. Would this look OK? She wants a plain band.

Also, if getting it set in rose gold, is it best to get the prongs in white gold? Should she save her money and get a lower colour because of reflection from the metal?

I have only bought round brilliants before, is there something in particular she should be looking for in the princess cut that may differ? Thanks for your expertise!

My 3 stone e ring is 1.06 w .51 & .52 sides. Here is my link below:

I think to keep the white of the diamond "white", I'd personally prefer the prongs in WG and the balance of the ring in RG, but that's my preference. Your friend will have the wonderful dilemma of having to try a lot on and see what sizes she prefers. I don't find there are a lot of RG options at local B&M stores tho - at least not in my area!

Oh... the sheer dismay at having to try on rings.... :Up_to_something: :naughty: :naughty: :Up_to_something:

Thanks for your reply. Your ring is beautiful! I will show this to her as a reference. You are ringt, she will just have to try lots and lots of lovely sparkly rings on to see what best suits her hand.

.7 and .5 stones will look close to the same size. If that's the look they want, then that would work. If they want to have more differentiation between the sizes, I think they should either go up in the center size or down on the size of the sidestones. Either way can be beautiful, it just depends on her particular preference.

Thanks for your help, I will mention this to her so she can decide what 'look' she likes best on her hand.
