Ok well I''ve been looking for a nice princess diamond... and quite honestly biggest bang for the buck. (as does everyone..)

What exactly are everyones thoughts on a "I" Color Princess... I''ve looked at an "I" at a BM store... now i''ve heard some people compare an "I" from Whiteflash or GOG as more of an "H" at BM store.

Here is one diamond I''ve been considering...my main concern is the "I"...

Then I''ve also stumbled across a diamond similar size (measurements seem off) howevere here we have a higher color, but the clarity fallen down to SI1.

I guess if I can get some tid-bits on these two and what my concerns should be.

Thanks in advance

Not really liking the WF stone''s ASET/IS. And it is out of the square range and not rectangular enough to classify as such. GOG looks much better except the color is lower grade.

An "I" in most maul stores is really going to be at least the equivalent of a GIA/AGS J/K and possibly even lower.

With an "I" princess from GOG or WF, it will be plenty white for most people. You might notice a bit of creaminess from the side of the stone if the setting is really open, but it certainly isn''t going to be yellow or ugly in any way, shape, or form.

Ditto - what I would do if you are not sure of an I colour, contact WF or GOG and ask them if they have any others of a higher colour they can recommend. An I will be white enough for most people as Neat says, however in a Princess whether it will be white enough for you is the question - most likely it will be but if you could see some well cut similar size Princess in person of I colour ( suggest AGS0 cut grade Princess if you have a seller near you) then you will know for sure. However both vendors have a good return policy so either way you are covered.

The WF Princess isn't a top cut diamond - however it is a lot of diamond for the money, if you wanted to find out more about it ask if Brian or one of the other experts can properly evaluate the diamond for you concerning its suitabilty and if it is eyeclean to your standards.

Excellent- So lets say I found a Setting I liked also...(Scott Kay). GOG claims they don''t have ScottKay.

Would you recommend me just buying the stone, and then re-sending it out? Or would a local BM that has Scott Kay set it...

What would be your recommendations?

Thanks

Or would the vendor do all the leg work...

Not if they can't get the setting you want. They'll do all the leg work if they are setting the stone for you. But most local places would be happy to set it for you. Just make sure they will insure the stone while they are setting it and make sure you trust their work.

If you buy your setting from someplace well known like Pearlman's Jewelers (Bill is awesome BTW!) then GOG would probably be happy to send your stone directly to them though as long as you authorize it.

I have an "I" princess cut from a reputable jeweler where I live. It faces up very white, however, as has already been mentioned, it does appear somewhat creamy at times from the side. I am not bothered by the color it sometimes shows. Mine is bezel set for what it''s worth.
