Pricing, old vs new

Curious about the pricing of old cut diamonds vs modern cuts. Have heard it said that old is less expensive. However, that has not been my experience. What's up?

Popularity has resulted in higher prices on old cuts. A well cut old cut can easily cost as much or nearly as much as a new diamond unless you are looking in certain places, like estate sales, ebay, etc.
