Pricescope''s Community Project

With the holidays coming around and Pricescope having such an active and vibrant diamond community, people who are passionate and have a deep love for diamonds. We have decided that it is time that we team together to do something for the diamond community at large. We may not be able to change the whole world, but at least we can attempt to make a dent in our little part of it -- diamonds. ( And who knows what ripple effects it will have).

We are going to be running a project in which all of the profits will go towards a diamond non-profit organization of "your" choice. We can give all of the proceeds to one organization or we can divvy up the profits amongst a few organizations.

Being that we all love diamond pictures our project is going to be called "The Rock Walk". (Think cat walk for diamonds). Those of you who would like to contribute your favorite, most creative and hottest diamonds pictures, may upload them to this "thread".

We will then choose the best shots of the year, and compile it into a coffee table album of the Best Rocks of 2009. And you guys will be able to purchase your very own Pricescope Rock Walk Album!


So dive in and join us.....
(1) Post your choice of organization to which proceeds should go to.
(2) Please contribute your BLING! ( We mean the pictures)

*Once your pictures have been chosen for the album, please have high quality images available. (3 megapixels or higher) We will then be in contact with you via email, regarding getting the images.

To help with this I have given this task to Franky, who has been helping with moderation for some time. She has a good feeling for the community and is excited about this wonderful project.

I think many of us, if not all, have known a friend or family member that has had battled cancer or is battling it at the moment and I think that would be a nice way to donate some of the funds.

Skippy, I love the idea of donating to a cancer organization. One that encompasses all forms of cancer would probably be ideal.

The Cancer organization could be a good idea. Lets see what other suggestions come up.

I'm excited to see what pictures are unveiled - the Rock Walk Album will be one stunning piece of work

I do have a question: can the pictures be from other vendors' stock pieces, or must they be custom? I can think of dozens of rings I've loved, but some are designer pieces and probably protected/regulated... I'm also assuming WF/Leon's glamour shots can't be suggested?

I love this idea ... but humbly suggest that a calender might be a more usable item than a coffee table book? And perhaps one with a lower cost to *make* - so the donation portion would be higher?

I really love desk calendars -- and those would involve 52 photos rather than the standard 12 of wall calendars. Anyway, just an idea. I know Whiteflash already has their own bling calendar but this would be different in that its for charity.

The pics cannot be vendors pictures, only personal images, either your own, or pics of another members bling that you like.
In other words it does not need to be a custom piece, but the actual photograph must be a their own.

Ooooh, I wanna play!!! All of the following pictures (of my AGS-0 2.36 RB in a custom WF platiinum fishtail setting) were taken by me.


I always thought this picture was pretty cool, note the *perfect heart* inside the diamond! Quite apropo, no?!

PS Edited to add: I would love to see an animal welfare organization get some of the proceeds, please. I swear, next to diamonds, we are ANIMAL JUNKIES around here!!!

Also wanted to toss in my 2 cents and say that I LOVELOVELOVE the idea of a desk calendar... how about even considering a 365 day one, the kind with the tear-off sheets?! ("A Diamond a Day"??!!!) If we got 365 submissions, wouldn't that be awesome!!! Personally, I could use a calendar more than I could use a coffee table book, although it (the book) does sound AMAZING!!!

Love this idea, what a womderful thing to do as a community. I didn't take my pics, Nan did, so can't contribute. But love the idea of a desk calendar. I know many that have battled Cancer, love The Make a Wish Foundation, and perhaps a rescue shelter for animals...

Since we have so many PS'ers that are preggo and many PS Mommies, The March of Dimes is a great chairty... Just a thought.

What a great idea! I do love Gypsy''s idea of a desk calendar, but a coffee table book could be really beautiful.

I don''t have any really great shot of my only teeny, tiny diamonds, but I think coati''s pictures of her JM on the Lego dudes is very PS. I''ve got a few pictures that I really like that I took at the Charlotte GTG, but I only have 1-1.5MG pictures.

ETA: I also vote that we allow in photos of colored stones since there are some PSers that have colored stone erings, or just lots of beautiful colored stones. Every book needs some color right?
