1. What gemstones do you specialize in?
We specialize in natural, untreated rubies and sapphires (all colors, including padparadscha), as well as other classic gems, such as spinel, gem-quality garnet, black opal, and (“no oil”) emerald. We also source fancy color diamonds, including yellow and pink.
2. How do you source stones for clients?
Inken, our owner, personally sources each stone, drawing on her connections in New York and international gem markets to get priority access to high-end gemstones. Some of these sources also supply major European high-jewelry houses. Our true strength is access to qualities you would not find through simple online browsing.
3. How is the jewelry made?
Each piece is made from scratch in our New York atelier. We use a variety of fabrication techniques, including “hand forging,” but also traditional wax carving and sometimes CAD design (for clients who desire an exact preview). Inken is closely supervising jewelry production for flawless execution & quality assurance.
4. What metals and sourcing standards do you offer?
Platinum (PT950-Ru) remains our best seller, but we also work a lot in 18K gold recently. For clients looking for the extraordinary, we have a proprietary alloy for 18K gold that falls between rose & yellow in color. In terms of responsible sourcing, Enhoerning Jewelry is a Fairmined Licensed brand. We offer Fairmined Ecological gold as an option for every order. To match this special, ethically sourced gold, we offer Canadian diamonds as accent stones. For center stones, we keep a collection of antique, reclaimed rubies & sapphires. And we have access to newly mined Sri Lankan sapphires with blockchain provenance proof.
5. How does the client experience work?
Enhoerning Jewelry is a small, owner-led business with a boutique feel. Our core strength is highly personalized service, driven by a passion for bespoke jewelry that really translates the buyer’s vision. Clients typically make first contact with us via email, contact form, text message, or WhatsApp. Later in the process, we often meet at our Manhattan showroom to review gemstone options in person. For out-of-state buyers, we are happy to work remotely with email, video chat, high-resolution photos & overnight shipping for gemstone review.
6. Can you work within different budgets?
Yes. While our focus is on extraordinary gemstones, we are happy to accommodate clients across a range of budgets, at different levels of customization.
7. What kinds of commissions do you take on?
We cater to a wide range of bespoke jewelry requests, as long as the focus is on colored gemstones (with colorless diamonds as side or accent stones). Many people come to us for a high-end engagement ring, and about the same number of clients ask us for a personal “milestone” piece of jewelry. We usually do not set client-owned stones, unless purchased from us previously, of course. For smaller jewelry purchases or gifts, we make very popular little earrings, pendants, eternity bands, or station bracelets or necklaces.
