Ditto. That''s basically what I said.

Yep - you did, and you said it better. I just missed it while I was posting my novel-length post

Well done, Ellen.....as usual, you''re spot on!

Thanks Al, but I don''t know about that....

Your posts are always so level headed and succint. Besides, I like novels.

Here, in global terms, are premium - average - and poor ideal-scope images.
JQ,

I guess the images you presented above don't re-present themselves here.

But...and since I think this is your own option, perhaps brought in (?), an AGS0...how would you rank it/place it among those three?

It was. It received AGS0 LP, which is a great assurance.Just realize that there are different ‘looks’ inside the 0 range. This specific diamond also benefited from optical symmetry, minor facet & brillianteering choices.Other 40.8/35.5 combos might not be as nice. Here's why:

The graphics below are from the AGSL cut guides provided to manufacturers. These aren't grading charts; they are to show cutters where predicted ‘sweet spots’ for top AGSL performance lie. Every diamond must be individually assessed when finished.Even a stone in the red zone might not make 0 if it has poor cut precision or minors.Similarly, one with precise cutting and wise choices can be improved in score, even outside of the red. You can see 40.8/35.5 as potentially in the 2 range as a 6mm stone. It is more likely to achieve 0 at 8mm, but that 0 'zone' borders with 3-4 if the PA goes to 41 (most red zones are bordered by 1-2).That puts such candidates in an interesting area, where the cutter must be careful. It shows skillful cutting that this one achieved 0 in light performance, reinforced by ideal polish/symmetry grades, which are hard to get.

We brought this one in from a supplier and I didn’t see it myself.I expect most people with untrained eyes would be hard pressed to tell the difference between it and one in the middle of our favored range. If they did it would be a trade off of brightness for dispersion…something PS enthusiasts might run around trying to exaggerate in different environments and lighting (you know who you are) while their SOs roll their eyes. My own lady is kind enough to put up with me grabbing her hand and saying “Hey! did you see [this] and [this]?It’s because of [that]!” (pointing)I’m not quite far enough gone to make her hold still while I photograph the sparkle patterns projected up on the cabin of a plane in different lighting (cough cutnut cough) but I’m close.

After further discussion with the client on this stone, our ultimate recommendation was a 40.8/34.8 but that was in no way a condemnation of the stone you linked. It was a top performer and good value for the money.

Sorry, John...your comments are certainly helpful...and affirming on the side that says an AGS0 can be either swell or really really swell, etc... but swell, nonetheless..

...but the query went to the IS...with respect to this documentedly swell diamond. How would you read the IS, on it's face?

P.S....did I hear youuuuuu'd be in Houston tomorrow?

Ira, you've been to this circus for long enough to know. There's some under-table leakage which is at the threshhold of eye-visible in our setup. I would want to see it in-person.

If you're mistaking me for nude Alicia Silverstone I think you need help with more than just that IS image, buster.

good news, a couple good stones are on the way, along with two others the guy likes but did not have specs for:

55 tbl
60.4 depth
34.8 CA
40.9 PA
1.6 HCA

57 tbl
61.3 depth
34.6 CA
41 PA
2.0 HCA

At prices appropriate to similar web offerings. Performance based ags zeros.

May work out.... all I want me is a decent zero CUT at a fair price lol! I know 2.0 HCA is on the border but will be fine if it is the better looking of the two. If both are dogs in person then a new bout of despair will set in :-)

But I''m very hopeful now.

I''ll keep my fingers crossed for you hope it works out to YOUR satisfaction!
