As some of you may have noticed, I've had a .81 emerald cut diamond for sale since I dismantled a three stone ring I owned a short time ago. I received an email from a lady this morning via Loupe Troop, saying she'd like to buy the EC and telling me she lived in Massachusetts (as do I) in the same general area. I told her what town I lived in - and surprise, surprise! - she lives in the same town! Small, small world!

We decided to meet so I could hand the stone to her and avoid shipping, and she dropped round this evening to pick it up. I asked her if she was a member of Pricescope and she said yes! I asked her her PS name and she said....

"I'm Lookinagain." (!!!)

I realized straight away that it was Lookinagain who had posted on my Pre-loved page, saying she was so disappointed to hear I had dismantled the ring as it was one of the rings she had saved as an inspiration ring. But fate took a hand and brought us together and now the lovely little EC is in its rightful home. :) It was the oddest feeling to bump into someone in real life who you already know and like! We had a very enjoyable jewelry 'show and tell' and a very PS-ish type of chat.

It was lovely to meet you, Lookinagain - I'll look forward to watching your new ring emerge over time!

I love it!! It was kismet!

How serendipitous!

I know, right?! She was meant to have it. :)

Awww... I loved your ring too! It was one of my favorites! Maybe she will recreate it! How great that you got to meet in real life and you live so close!

Wow, very small world!!!

How cool is that? It is always fun to meet a PSer!!

It was lovely to meet you too mrs-b and also to meet your very nice DH and sweet puppy! I'm so happy with the stone and yes, luv2sparkle, I'm hoping to recreate the ring that I loved so much (with mrs-b's permission, which I received!). I think both mrs-b and I were so surprised, while communicating (and after a few emails) about my purchase of the EC that we actually lived in the same town. Who would have thought that? And that we had such a nice visit was icing on the cake for me, as I was just expecting to pick up my purchase and head on my way. Now I actually have a neighbor with at least two of my interests, diamonds and dogs!

awesome!!!!

Neato! Small world, indeed.

Love that! But what are the odds?

Cool. It was meant to be. I did love your ring.

How funny! What a fun coincidence :P2

What a small world!

Brilliant story, looking forward to seeing the new version of the ring!

I love stories like this! I was flicking through Instagram the other day and was like "HANG ON A SEC - I RECOGNISE THAT GEMSTONE!!!!" :rolleyes2: So I click on it and request to follow her and it turned out to be Mochiko42... My husband laughed "You are such a gemstone nerd!" :shifty:

I'm glad it worked out for you both! But I wanted to warn people for the future that it's not safe to have people come to your home, especially when you have posted online about the jewelry you have. You are asking to be robbed. Better to meet in a public place. Our police station in town actually encourages and welcomes these types of exchanges; online deals that meet in person to make a deal.

Please be safe when selling your jewelry!

There's a number of details I didn't share in my post, @asscherisme. Suffice to say, I felt very comfortable in the exchange we organized.

The gem world can be such a small one. I was in Austin in a workshop two months ago. I was sitting at breakfast with another attendee. I admired her moonstone ring and we started talking about moonstones, rainbow moonstones, etc. At one point she mentioned "I know a little about gemstones from a good friend who makes jewelry". I asked if her friend had an etsy shop and if so, would she share the name. She said "Cecile Raley Design". I had to laugh because at the same time, Yvonne was at JCK and we were messaging about demantoids I wanted. I wish I could've seen Yvonne's face when I message "Guess who I'm hanging with in Austin...". When I explained, she thought it was pretty cool.

Anyway, not to hijack - I remember admiring that ring and glad it will be recreated...it really is so perfect for the stone. It was meant to be :)

That is awesome!

Dude !!!! That way freaking awesome ! It was meant to be ! Man it is crazy how small the world really is sometimes ! =)2

And the ring is now recreated! I did change it to 14k yellow and had a satin finish put on it but other than that it is the same ring. I'm very happy with it and mrs-b was right, it is very comfortable. A few photos . Please excuse the old lady hands and lousy photos.

It turned out beautifully. I'd love to see more pics.

Love it, @Lookinagain !!

Mine was in yellow gold also - but I can't recall if it was 18 or 14kt. I *think* 18kt - but it's a bit amazing how quickly I've already forgotten! Mind like a sieve....

Anyway, this looks AWESOME! And I love the satin finish! What size are your pears? Mine were .82ctw and looked a tad smaller than yours.

I loved the way this ring wore like a band but looked so much more than that. Gorgeous, Lookinagain - wear in health and happiness! :wavey:

Yes, mrs-b, yours was 18k. But most of my yellow gold is 14k so I went with that and I thought the satin finish would change it up a bit (but not too much). My pears are .40 and .42 so the total weight is the same as yours. The emerald is J color but I could only find matching pears in I color but I really don't see a difference. I found them on BN. They were the only two in the right size range that had close enough dimensions to make into a pair. I love this ring as well and agree, it feels like a band but has more oomph. And thank you for allowing me to copy your design. It was very generous of you.

It's the perfect, perfect size for your finger! Size-wise, it's a far better fit for you than it ever was for me - looks wonderful on your finger!

Enjoy!

I’m going on a cruise in December and another PS’r will be on board. I don’t know her PS name, only her real name. We plan on meeting up to show our bling!
