Prices on colored diamonds - did they explode in recent years?

Admittedly, I haven''t bought a diamond in around 10 to 15 years, but when I did, I don''t remember the prices being anywhere near as high as they are now for colored diamonds, even for coffee browns and faint light yellows. Did the prices recently explode in recent years? Even super light "I can barely see the color" pinks are going for outrageous prices. I rather buy a white diamond if I have to "think" about envisioning the pink in a supposedly pink diamond. I saw a half carat super faint pink diamond with a brownish cast to it going for around 10K, and that was supposed to be a "bargain" in the world of pink diamonds. Yikes!

Yep.

And I believe the "real genuine" rare colors are going to get more expensive...

Australia is getting emptied out of pinks and blues are as rare as can get (these times)...

I think once they started marketing them as "fancy" and "rare" they became more popular and the prices shot up.

Depends what you mean by "once"?

These "true" colored Diamonds were considered rare since the recording of the history on Diamonds....

Fancy colors (for Diamonds) is a word that I personally have known for over 25 years...

One thing is for certain...., ever since celebs have started wearing and endorsing these beauties..., they have been becoming more and more popular..
