Hiya PC...

I think 'mithril' is the mineral from which elvish armor and weapons are cast.

A grin to your avatar.

Mithril is Dwarven! lol It's strength is what saved Frodo from that cave troll back in the Mines of Moria

Here's a pretty hobbitskin
To wrap an Elven princeling in!

"The Dwarves tell no tale; but even as mithril was the foundation of their wealth, so it also was their destruction. . ." p. 377 of Fellowship of the Rings

". . .the Dwarves could make of it a metal, light and yet harder than tempered steel. . ." p. 378

"The Elves dearly loved it, and among other uses they made of it ithildin, starmoon, . . ." p. 378

The Elves used mithil too, but the Dwarves were responsible for mining mithiril in Moria and Moria was considered the only location to which mithiril could be found, so it's just as much Dwarven, if not more so, since they worked their butts off to mine the stuff, which IS more precious than gold. Thorin, a dwarf, was also responsible for giving Bilbo a set of mithiril ringed armour which eventually fell into Frodo's hands and saved his life.
