This is the setting that my gf likes and happened to find it on this forum https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/pics-of-simon-g-5-stone-ring-for-jzuino.59672/
The retail price is 4750 the jeweler said they can sell it for $3500 it is 1.4carat F color VS1 the setting alone
The middle diamond a perfect 3X 2.32 I VS2 18,500 (it''s very hard to see the color) the jeweler said very rare to see the stats on this since its so perfect but the slight color kills it in my opinion. 2.39 H SI1 22,500. I am leaning towards the 2.39 but do you think with those specs I can get it cheaper? Do you think I can get the setting cheaper? Thanks I have been checking multiple websites and am working with 1 jeweeler and 1 "wholesaler" who supplied the diamond district in NYC. ANy help greatly appreciated. Thanks

Can you see any color in the ''I''? ''I'' is still in the near colorless range, and most well-cut ''I'' stones will face up white. Don''t judge it just on the color grade, unless you can see it with your own eyes.

I''m no expert in pricing, I''ll let the more savvy users comment on that.

its very close to see any color but slightly noticeable compared to the 2.39

In the world outside Pricescope, I think the I would still look like a clean white diamond.

Look around at some of the sites that offer loose diamonds...there is usually a "diamond search" where you can input the parameters you''re looking for (even price range) and see what they have to offer.

Good luck!

1. You need more info. Based on just those specs prices are fine - get all the numbers on the cert and compare with well-cut diamonds. Is not rare to see 2ct+ ex/ex/exs... dunno what your jeweller meant by that.

2. if a jeweller is selling to you, the end customer, he is not a wholesaler - he is a retailer calling himself a wholesaler in the hope that you will be duped. Don''t be!

Ditto. Get the information from the certs: crown and pavilion angles, table and depth percentages please.

When I meant wholesaler I am working with a jeweler as well as a wholesaler and truthfully I don''t know whats better seems like neck and neck. the setting went from 4700-3500 won''t go any lower. The diamond I know is the biggest cost as well as the 4 c''s they gave me the specs I don''t have off hand but the point of the diamond they said was the best you can find, It is GIA, 56% table size, 59% depth, 34 angle, the girdle they said is ideal. This is all I have spec wise.

Can you post the report number so we can look it up from there or get the pavilion angle, girdle thickness ( these aren't graded as ideal), diameter in MM, polish and symmetry grades please?

Get the GIA report number from them and the exact carat weight and post it here.

when I narrow it down I will I am trying to get everything for approx. 20K what do you think about getting the setting any cheaper? The diamond I am looking for my gf wants over a 2-3c and just wants it to be colorless and shiny SI1 is fine. So I am looking for this in a big diameter lol.

Also what do you think when dealing with a wholesaler? How do I get the best price.

let me give an advice...
you better start by reading up on the 4Cs before you flush $20K down the toilet.

Thanks I did my research and purchased for 20K from a well known jeweler got it custom made.

which diamond did you wind up choosing, if you don''t mind sharing?
