I am looking for experts here to weight in on price for the following. I understand from browsing the forum that EGL Certs at not as desireable as GIA or EGS, but atleast the stone comes with EGL USA rather than EGL Europe. I also understand the HCA score is above the desired "2". That said, given this is the first diamond purchase for me, the diamond looks amazing in person (including away from the store lights). Price is $8000 - no tax.

Just so you know that stone doesn''t look so ideal to me...

Neatfreak, it''s understood the stone does not rate "ideal". I''m looking for feedback on the pricing (IE - is it a fair price given the specs).

well i just ran a quick search within your parameters, however I can''t view the certs to see the crown and pavilion angle is similar or not, but what I found the low end is about $6900 with EGL cert H color 1.76. You can do a quick search as well to see how you well you did.

Its what we call a steep deep with the crown and pavilion angles, light leakage could be the result, the stone could show dark areas and not sparkle as well as it could. See if you can view it away from the store lights to see how it behaves in plain daylight, also you could rush order one of these...

http://www.ideal-scope.com/cart_zoom_item.asp?Id=2&ShowAdd=Y An Idealscope will show you whether there is any light leakage.

This page explains how it works.

Also if you decide to buy this diamond, make sure you have a good return policy and get the diamond independantly appraised during it, here is a tool you can use to find an appraiser in your area
