Hi,

I visited a vendor who comes highly recommended and he asked $11,500 for the following diamond:

Round brilliant
Carat Weight: 1.71
Color Grade: H
Clarity Grade: SI2 (very eye clean)
Cut Grade: Excellent

Proportions:

Depth: 61.7 %
Table: 57 %
Crown Angle: 36°
Crown Height: 15.5 %
Pavilion Angle: 40.6
Pavilion Depth: 43 %
Star length: 45 %
Lower Half: 80 %
Girdle: Thin to Slightly Thick, Faceted
Culet: None
The diamond looked really nice and bright and you could not see the inclusions face up (closer to SI 1) but the prices are a fair amount lower on Pricescope. It measures a 1.8 HCA.

I realize that B&M usually charge more, but does this price seem reasonable or how much would you be willing to pay for this diamond at a B&M (if I tried to negotiate, what should be my goal).

Thanks.

Lots of factors go into price, but looks about right.

Click on PRICES at the top of this page and do a comparison on what similar diamonds are selling for with online vendors.

Forgot to add:

VG/VG for symmetry and polish and medium blue flourescence.

Since it is a H color, is this going to be good/bad/netural for this diamond?

Does this increase/decrease the price?

Thanks.

Johnson

That price does sound about right. It''s probably devalued due to the med. blue fluorescence, although it''s not always a bad thing to have (some people here actually prefer it). Sounds like a pretty fair price, but there''s never any harm in trying to negotiate for lower.
