Unfortunately without pictures or other images we can''t really tell you much about the performance of the stone as it''s a fancy and doesn''t follow rules like an RB stone would. Is that something you can get from the vendor?

Sorry, double post!

Welcome to Pricescope,

Ditto Neat''s advice. Nothing to worry about the comment on the report concerning pinpoints, anything that says not shown in the comments section means a non issue basically. As to pricing is the diamond with an online vendor or a brick and mortar establishment? Online prices are generally lower. Have you seen the diamond in person?

WOW! thank you for the prompt replies. This price is from a B&M establishment. I have seen the diamond in person and it looks very nice. but then again, I think any stone looks nice. I was told that it was a well cut stone.

If you think any stone looks nice, you haven't seen enough cushions to be able to judge one for yourself. Believe me there is a HUGE difference between a really nice cushion and a so so cushion. But before you've seen many of them you won't be able to tell the difference.

Have you checked out the great cushion pictures/videos from Goodoldgold.com? That might help a bit. Bring back pictures if you can and we can help you more.

BINGO! Neat hit the nail on the head, try to compare as many different cushions as you can Cushmann, as they can show such different looks and personalities, many diamonds can look nice until you really start looking and comparing. Also as to whether it is a well cut stone or not is debatable as we can't tell by numbers unfortunately and that is a common remark from the seller if that was who told you it was well cut. What I would do if you are set on this particular diamond, get an independant appraisal on it if you like this one and don't want to look for others, and make the sale final on a favourable report. That way a good appraiser can give an expert opinion and the report can be very useful for insurance purposes. Here is an appraiser list-

Good advice. Thank you very much. The thing is that many of the jewelers doesn''t have cushion stone in house in the specs/qualities that I was looking for. Would I be able to take the stone and get it appriased with out purchansing the stone?

You may have to pay something or pay for the diamond outright, then have the diamond sent to your chosen appraiser - but get an agreement in writing that the sale is final on the diamond checking out to your satisfaction.

This article by 2 of our experts might be useful.

Neatfreak is absolutely right. When we started looking at cushions in our local market, we were shown a few that looked alright but we expanded our search to online vendors. We found that the best we saw at the B&M was not nearly as nice as what we saw with our online venor.

We also found that the prices with the online vendors are better. My understanding is that there is a further discount for pricescope members but our more senior members here can validate it. I did a quick search for E, VS2 in the 1.20 to 1.25 and found the range to be between $6000 to $7700. If you drop to a G, you can even get a bigger diamond if that is what you want. We could barely notice a difference between a G and a E.
