I respect Diamond jewelers for honest business.

BUT>
A 1.54 Excellent cut Round brilliant
Color E
SI1
No fluor
GIA certified
$23,500???

Every diamond in this class I looked at ranged from $9,800 to $14,000
GOt a song and dance how it''s what his customers would pay.
But what about the low income people like me who want to pay what it is really worth?
Maybe a VVS1 in that range comes close..
Any comments about this price would be nice..
ALso, are man made diamonds more expensive?
Not talking about synthetic, but actual pure carbon man mades?
Thanks,,,,,

HAHA!!

He was having a hard time trying to see a small inclusion with 10x loupe on a diamond that I saw naked eye!

Why do they love playing dumb?
SO what would you pay for the previous diamond?

1.54 RB
Ideal Cut (he said excellent cut not sure if that is correct for a GIA)
V/G Polish
V/G symmetry
SI1
E color
no fluor
GIA cert

Please don't say $23,500

You have the choice of not buying it

People need to do some looking around before buying .

I certainly passed on it, but I was trying to see if I should deal with this person in the future.

Are you saying that it is ok for a Diamond seller to try and get that much money for a diamond that is obviously worth half that?
Especially a jeweler in my area that supposedly sits in the upper ranks.

Just trying to see if I am being to cheap, or if everyone else is looking at reality before they shop.

Good question~

Its what they think there product is worth. They are not bad people or good people for how they price their product.

If they price it too high then they priced themselves out of the market. You get burned once and you dont go back.

Example that happened to me today.

I go to an online airline ATA the price for their plane ride was high.

So, I went to LowestFare.com bought the tickets for $420 each. Locked it in and no turning back.

Then I came across airgorilla.com and found them for half the price!!!!! My fault I didnt do more looking around. But I wont go back to lowestfare. Nobody twists your arm to make a purchase , like myself, but you sure learn fast. Nothing wrong with saving money.

Both excellent points!!

I called them to ask why so high again..
The response was,,"My customers are willing to pay that"

So both your posts now are so clear

Maybe we should start a coup, and mass educate, to force the prices lower..
J/K,,,then our diamonds wouldn't be worth what we paid for them..

Great Points Furthermore ~

The more educated we become the better we all are

Jewelry shops go bust ?

Ive been blamed for putting 6 of them out of business in
this area in the last 2 years, they said I was too honest for the business and if Im
driven a new H2 hummer there is no way my prices were lower ??? (that's how
these people think) They also said "I don't know what he tells them but once they go
down to see him they never come back " ???? Its called education

Once I help
educate the client, I need to do nothing else

Did you say you had a I .75 for sale or a 1 2/3 for sale on ebay?
I was looking over a few prices I got from this same dealer I don't like.

Would it be wise for a Jeweler to sell I1 and I2 diamonds?
Aren't they better suited on record player stylus's or sawblades?

He showed me an I2 i think j color....
Cut wasn't great looking, looked shallow to me..don't have exact specs..
it was 3.61 carat and he wanted $29,700 for it.
Now I think not only was he being dishonest, but was basically insulting me at that point..
So would any sell respecting jeweler sell I2's?
