My husband has agreed to upgrade my studs from 2 ctw to 2.5 ctw. First question - do you think this is a big enough jump to see a difference in size?

Second question - For H SI1 or SI2, is $8500 a reasonable price?

Thanks for your thoughts!

Hi Kelly.

So we are talking about 1 ct weight to 1.25 each, if the diameter measurements are right on your chosen diamonds you could go from 6.5 mm to 7mm, depends on whether this would be enough of a jump for you, generally .5mm increases can be noticeable. As you probably know, it also depends on the diameter measurements as well as carat weight, you need to make sure your new diamonds are well cut and are the face up size they should be.

Chart for you. https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/mm-to-carat-stone-conversion-chart.17578/

Also this chart might give you a rough idea, but it isn't to scale. Diamond Size Chart

You can check your prices using the Pricescope Your Diamond tool above, just punch in your specs. Do these have a GIA report with them? The price you mention if it is for the pair of diamonds sounds very cheap, or just for one?

A 1.25 stone looks bigger than a 1 ct when side-by-side. In a ring, I don''t think it looks enormously different, but in an earring, it might due to amount of earlobe coverage.

Top-make 1.25 H, SI2 stones run around $6000-$6500 each, so if your $8500 price is total for both stones, it''s unlikely the stones are top make stones.

And if it''s for one, it''s overpriced.
