Price for custom work in UK

I just had my quotes in from a designer in the UK for two different styles of setting.

They want £4239 ($8275) for this style - setting 1

And £5604 ($10,939) for this style - setting 2

That has really shocked me!! It doesn't even include the centre diamond!!

Looks like I will be buying from the US again!

Holy smokes, that is crazy, especially for that second design!!

The first one looks pretty intricate (and is still HUGELY overpriced at 4.5 times as much), but the second one looks relatively straight-forward--not nearly complicated enough to charge (IMHO), what, almost 6 times as much?!

I am really shocked at how much it is going to cost! I obviously won''t be using them!
