When I used the pricescope search for diamonds, I had this diamond show up like this on the search:

"1.013 J VVS2 76.8% 69% 41.9° 40.7° med-sl thk id id no 5.38-5.34x4.10 AGS $3853*S "

Then I clicked on it-

http://www.whiteflash.com/aca_princess/A-Cut-Above-Princess-cut-diamond-39300.htm

And the price on the page shows as $4,056.00.

Why do the prices show up different on the white flash diamond in different places?

Then I compared this diamond to this regent from good old gold-
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/413/

and also to this whiteflash x factor diamond-
http://www.whiteflash.com/xfactor/X-Factor-cut-diamond-23.htm

They are similar in specs it seems to me, but why is the regent more expensive? Is it because of the shape? Is the color or size affecting the price? Which of the 4 c''s affects price most drastically?

Sorry I''m so confused! Will appreciate any help! =) =) thank you in advance!

3853 is the special price for PS members...I believe you have to pay by some form of cash (not CC) to get that. With CC, the number would probably be somewhere between 3856 and 4056.

Using the CC full prices, 4056/1.013*1.113=$4450

Factor in some % more for the Regent being over 1.10 cts, compared to $4716, I don't think the difference is really significant.

These can show as special price SP for PSers if you pay by bank wire.

Thank you guys so much for your answers!

One more question!!

Why is this diamond so much cheaper than the diamonds that have similar specs? Like several thousand dollar difference!

First it''s an EGL Israel grading report. What they call J VS2 might be anywhere between J-L, VS2-SI2 if graded by GIA or AGS.

With no crown or pavilion angle information we can''t compare basic cut parameters, and without the additional imagery and information like you''ve seen for the other diamonds, there is no way to make detailed cut comparisons.

Thank you so much for your answer! I am just so clueless when it comes to pricing, and why diamonds are priced differently? Does anyone have a good rule of thumb so I can know whether the diamond is 1. a good deal, or it is discounted because of certain things?

Which of the four C''s affects price the most, and what other factors affect the price a lot? I''m just so confused!!!

You need to compare actual diamonds as there are so many variables, factors which can affect price are the type of grading report, colour, clarity and carat, whether a diamond is eyeclean or not, cut quality, fluorescence in some instances, shape etc etc, type of vendor selling the stone, the availability of extras such as an upgrade policy, cut analysis done on the diamond.....

Thank you so much for your help!

Runs off to do more research ^_^;;

If you haven''t found it yet, this is a good place to start:

http://www.goodoldgold.com/4Cs/

In my case, clarity is the ''c'' that I care the least for. I don''t want to pay the premium for, say, IF or VVSI over an eye-clean VS2/SI since I will only see the difference under a loupe. ''Color'' has a noticeable effect on price, especially between ''F'' and ''G''. Many people are very happy with ''near colorless'' rather than ''colorless''. Lucky me, I can see the yellow in small face-up hearts and arrows ''H''s so I have to pay the premium for ''colorless''.

Standard disclaimer-my new earrings are the small H ACAs referenced above, due to the 5th ''c'' of ''cost''. The only reason I got them was because of the vendor''s trade in policy, so one day I will have the D/Es I really like. That, and no one else that has seen them can see the yellow. I know *I''m* the oddball.

LOL! Most welcome!

As others have already mentioned, the pricing reflected on our stones in the ''Cut Quality'' are the Pricescope prices, which require a bankwire transaction.

The price reflected on each individual diamond''s page is the full price with no discount.

As to your general questions, many things impact pricing. The cut of the diamond plays a large part in the pricing; the better the cut, the more $$ per carat. Also, stones graded by more stringent and reputable labs like AGS/GIA will command a higher price than those graded by softer labs such as IGI, EGL Israel, etc.
