These are not the same thing. Same carat weight in the two, the RB will look larger face up, cushions are deep. So a 1ct RB will have larger face-up dimensions than a 1ct Cushions. This matters because with deep fancies there seems to be a carat weight price adjustmet (sometimes) that takes this difference into account. For example, princess cuts cost less per carat, but they face up smaller, so in the end for the same face-up size you pay about the same. Cushions are similar, though with branded cuts the adjustment doesn't seem to be par, so branded cushions seem to cost more per face up mm than RBs even thought the carat weight prices may be less for cushions.Date: 2/2/2010 5:48:10 PM

thanks that was very informative..another question. when upgrading from a rb to a cushion..will you get your fair value you paid for your rb..stone. while doing the upgrade to a cushion..and in order to get the same face up size i would need to go larger in the cushion..for a 3 ct round. 9.17 mm. what would be a comprable face up size in a cushion stone?
