I am looking at getting the Vatche w/ pear sidestones, but they come w/ G-H color (VS clarity). Does this mean I should look at center stones w/ that color? I had been looking at E&F''s up until now. Would it be better to find a G w/ an Ideal cut instead?

I have an E-VS1 center stone, but my baguettes are of G-H color with VS2 to VVS2 in clarity. The whole mounting, when seen together, you cannot honestly tell the difference in color or quality. I think if you can see them together to see if the lower-grade stones will become yellow-looking with the center stone, then this will help.

I guess it would depend on how big the color difference is and how color sensitive you are. I dont know if i''d put an E next an H though.

Hi Everyone,
Baguettes are far less likely to cause a problem if the color is different- mainly because a baguette is faceted differently than most center stones- the exception being emeald cuts- still, you''d need really large baguettes to show a color difference
Complete different story with pear shape sides and round center.
Maybe it''s possible to special order the semi mount with e color side stones. If that''s what you have your heart set on for a center, why let the cart lead the horse? Build the ring around the center diamond is my suggestion.

That is exactly what I have...an EC with baguettes on both sides! Even my mother, who is overly color sensitive, could not tell the difference in color between my E-colored EC and the baguettes, which are G-H in color....the whole ring looks icy white (which is how I like it!)

What size are the baguettes? This makes a big difference. Also, many center stones have GIA reports, while your baguettes likey do not. With all due respect to whoever graded your baguettes: Someone calling diamonds VVS2 without a GIA report suggests a lack of grading integrity, or experience- therefore they could actually be the same color as the center.

Although as a rule, I would have no problem at all using G baguettes with an E color Emerald cut center.

By the way, G color pears flanking an E color center is way preferable to the reverse, but do you want to experiment?
I make a lot of rings, and need to experiment
But, it''s your money, why take a chance? You are making one ring- a very important one at that.
If it comes out not to your liking who''s going to make it righjt?

Just an FYI...the jeweler who appraised my setting is a GIA gemologist x 10 years and his father is also a GIA gemologist/master diamond cutter...the VVS2 grading he gave was just an estimate, to let me know that I got a great deal on the setting (we had bought it elsewhere from where we bought the stone...guess I should''ve stated that...

...duh me!!!)...if they are the same coloring as the center..that''s fine with me!

I meant no disrespect to you, your jeweler or his father.
Call it a pet peeve- I do not issue grades of VVS , Internally flawless without a GIA report.

Gebnerally speaking, I believe folks should beware of sellers claiming to have VVS,s sans GIA reports. Of course that''s not the case here- my apologies

I wasn''t looking for an apology...I guess I just wanted to clarify this was an oral confirmation of my good buy...nothing more...Mea Culpa for not being clear the first time around...I wasn''t taking your statement personally...
