Okay, I bought Christmas presents for my mom and sister in time to send them off. Then, I didn''t. So they sat around, and since my mom knew I had presents lying around, she made a request for me to buy an ice scraper up here and send it down to her(we have awesome ice scrapers up here.) Buying the ice scraper was not a problem, it was easy but now the problem was finding something to ship the ice scraper in. Well I just found a box large enough to accommodate the ice scraper, and I have the presents wrapped and ready...
But my mom was telling me just this weekend that she bought my sister the video game that I got her for her present!
I bought this months ago and no longer have the receipt, so I don''t know what to do now!

Should I take the game back? I''m not sure that I could without a receipt(best buy.) Also, now half a present to my sister is missing if I take the game back. I just don''t know what to do!

Here''s some advice from a fellow perpetual procrastinator:

Eat it.

Eat the cost of the video game you bought your sister, and (if you can swing it) the cost of whatever you buy as a replacement for that game.

You made the decision to wait to send the Christmas (!) presents until you fund the right ice scraper and the right box. It''s a gamble that you lost -- by waiting, you took the chance that your sister would get that video game some other way, and probably lost out on the out on the chance to return the game you bought. So if you think that you owe your sister a certain amount of Christmas gifts, it''s on you to make that happen.

On the bright side, it sounds like you picked the perfect gift for your sis. Now if you had only sent it off on time...

You waited 3 months to send their present and now you are worried that she already has it? There is nothing you can do but remember to send things on time next year!

Take the game back and send your sister a gift card so she can can buy her own.

A gift is better late than never. Apologize for the delay but it still is a gift.

Ditto! I''m a procrastinator, too, but Christmas was foreverrrrr ago! You just have to buy her another present and send it ASAP! And I ditto the gift card-that way you can''t procrastinate more by trying to figure out something else to buy her.

Weird idea but if it doesn''t have a specific best buy tag on it can you use your mom''s receipt to return the game you bought? If its the same thing they wouldn''t care.

agreed! :) or, as stated previously - if you can`t take the game back, just sell it on kijiji or eat the cost. This was your decision, so they`re your consequences :)

Thanks for the advice everyone. I''ll have to go and try to return the game.
Also, I really have no problem eating the cost of the game, that doesn''t bother me. I just wanted to get my sister something that she wanted.
