Has anybody else taken this compatibility "test" as part of their premarital counseling? My fiance and I were required to by our church. We just got the results back and found were are in the "vitilized" catagory which is the highest level of compatibility. Of course we did not need a test to tell us we are well suited for each other but it was sure nice to see it in writing. The trained prepare/enrich couple we had to meet with as part of our marriage prep had a hard time going over what they are supposed to cover with us because we scored higher then them! They asked us some advice! ha ha!!

That''s great news, Jamsring ... Although you knew it already, it''s probably still reassuring.

My fi and I did a book test and that was fun but we will be doing some "testing" so to speak this weekend when we meet with our Church wedding co-ordinator. Also, in July, as a part of our marriage prep, we have to take part in Engaged Encounter which is a retreat or weekend away where we will be focused on marital issues and there will be lots of communication b/n us and with other couples & the facilitators etc.

Surprisingly, we''re both looking forward to it ... naturally, a little apprehensive but intrigued and excited all the same.

That sounds very cool - has anyone done a non-religous premarital counseling workshop or session?

Its my understanding that prepare/enrich is not just used with churches. Private couple counselors use it to. At least that is what I gathered from the website. None of the questions were religious based except something like "My fiance and I have talked and agreed about what role, if any, faith will have in our marriage" and you ranked it on a strongly agree, agree, disagree etc scale. There may have been a few like that but it wasnt geared toward any particular faith.

I think my DH and I took this one as part of our counseling sessions though our church. The test is completely non related to any specific religion or religion in general as jamsring pointed out. There were several hundred questions covering topics like family, money, work, kids, sex, drug use, physical/emotional abuse, cheating, gambling, religion, etc.

The point of the test is not to be 100% compatable, but to identify areas of disagreement and make sure that these topics are approprtiately discussed and explored before the marriage occurs. Many of the questions ask how you believe your SO feels about a particular topic to ensure you know how each other feels, not that you should think or feel the same way.

Jamsring, we also scored really high. We disagreed on 2 of the 350 questions which made our counselling a little uneventful. But it was nice to spend a little time focusing on us and our marriage instead of all the distracting wedding stuff.
