he is still in it at almost 4 months, tho TBH we cosleep after his first night wake-up around 3/4. He naps in a crib at day care so I cant imagine it will be too bad!

LV - we love our Angelcare AC401 monitor. I thought I'd use the breathing/movement detector, but we've never actually used that. We just love the range, and that it only activates transmission when it starts to detect noise from the baby. I've had the monitor outside in the garden with me and it had no problem picking up K. Sorry I saw your post so late!

I've found it really simple to use Amazon's "Add to Registry" Button at the top of my screen while combing through this list and thought I'd share. These are all great suggestions.

Just to let you know- my Costco is clearancing out their cribs. They are Cafe Kid cribs, really high quality, solid wood, and include two sets of conversion rails. The normal price is $499, but this weekend they were marked down to $299. Not sure if it's all locations, but probably worth checking out!

Here's a BUMP for this thread for the current preggos!

I have started looking at strollers and am loving the uppababy vista. Of course I also love the stokke, but that's jsut a bit extravagant! I also like the idea of the bumbleride indie, but the store we went to only had their double. I've decided I don't like the look of the BOB, it's jsut not for me.

Any thoughts? Owners of the uppababy, bumbleride or stokke care to weigh in?

Would there be any safety converns with getting a stroller second hand? That's the only way I think I cold jsutify the stokke, if I found one used at a good price.

PS - how do you pronounce stokke? I've always said it like 'stoke the fire' but on a youtube review the lady was saying 'stoke-a' and a friend of mine says 'stok-e' Just wondering!

I have the old style Stokke

and LOVE it.

Stokke is pronounced 'Stock-a'.

Really can't say enough good things about this stroller and they are becoming more and more popular in London. They have a very narrow footprint, are extremely light to push (even with the baby in it you can push it with one finger) and unbelieveably manouverable, literally turns on a sixpence. The fact that they go into a 2 wheel mode without having to remove the baby is so useful for stairs etc. It's also a pretty lightweight stroller if you have to carry it down stairs. IMO it is the ultimate urban stroller.

The downside - it is NOT suitable for off-road. It's also a bit of a PITA if you are constantly going to be taking it in and out of the car and you don't have a lot of boot space (trunk I think in the USA?)

Accessories - You really don't need the bassinet that comes with it. The normal seat is pretty much lie flat - my daughter even at a week old didn't want to be completely horizontal - she wanted to be able to look out and the lie flat position was perfect for that. I do have one of the footmuffs and it was brilliant for the winter, I have the parasol and have never ever used it, raincover is useful though.

My daughter is nearly 3 and we still use it a lot - she's on the small side, but I reckon she would easily fit into it until she is 5 or so.

They do have a great resale value as well.

The big negative I got from looking at it were definitely the size when collapsed (we live in a very car based city and will be driving to the park a lot so it's a factor, even though my car has quite a lot of cargo space) It didn't seem to really get very small compared to the strollers that fold in half. It's width is definitely a plus though, some seem to be twice as wide! I didn't realize it's not good for off roading. Hmm. Will have to look into how the uppababy handles off road to compare.

It will go on paths and relatively short grass (will do urban parks), but it's not good over very bumpy country-lane type ground and a nightmare with lots of sand or gravel. For me it wasn't an issue - I used the Stokke for city stuff and just stuck D in a Mei Tai if we were doing anything with less than level terrain.

I wouldn't worry about buying one secondhand at all. For a start, the warrenty is transferable. Also they are built using aircraft standard materials and are very, very strong. The textiles can be completely swapped out. Mine has been worked hard and it's still in near-perfect condition other than the odd scratch.

I don't know about the new model of bag, but the old one took a ridiculous amount of stuff - it was the totally flat bag that unzipped and expanded - I could get 5 full bags of groceries in and have room to spare.

I love having Daisy so high up and the option to face either direction. Being high-up we could talk more, she was also out of direct exhaust fume, brief-case and dog height so didn't have to worry about her being gassed, hit or bitten.

The stroller also converts into a high-chair when you are out which is so useful. It's also a doddle on things like escalators.

If you need off-road or want to go jogging etc or if you travel a lot with additional luggage then it's probably not for you. (Although it takes up room in the car it's a lot easier to take apart and put back together than a lot of strollers).

This may seem like a very minor product info request, but still important! We want to get a mirror to put on our back seat, so we'll be able to see what the baby is up to when he's rear facing. I just realized the one we picked out has to attached to a headrest. Baby will be in the middle seat, which doesn't have a headrest. Any ideas on a mirror that will work? This is the one we were going to get-

Some of the ones that attach to the headrest have mirrors that can be adjusted so that you could use them for a middle seat without it being directly in front of the baby.

Mayerling, this swing gets good reviews here in Australia and is supposed to be quieter more efficient on batteries than the FPswing. Not sure if it is available in the UK though. It is the one I am planning on buying
