Just curious question and observation...
Has any one noticed how a stone performs differently when it''s set at different heights on a setting?
I have an old setting with side stones that my center stone was set very high on, and I''ve just recently reset the stone into a new setting that is set much lower and closer to the side stones. I notice that the center stone sparkles so much more now in the lower setting than when it was in a higher setting. Would anyone know the reason for this? Could it be because the underside of the diamond is closer to the side of the ring, thus less light enter from under but more from above with the lower setting, and with the higher setting more lights are entering from below, thus blocking out light entering from above? I don''t know...but just curious as to why it''s more sparkly now than before with the same diamond.
