Possible to reuse these earring settings for larger stones?

I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this...but I figure I'll ask anyways. So I have currently have a pair of 5.1mm stones set in these 6-prong stud earring settings.



Would it be feasible to reset a larger pair of stones in em? The 2nd pair is about 5.6mm wide. If it might work, any idea about how much work could be involved?

The claws will all have to be rebuilt and lengthened.
The Mount has a rim that the diamond sits on. A bigger diamond will mean that the diamond will sit higher on that rim.
While it’s possible the cost of rebuilding all the claws might not make financial sense.

yep, likely more $$$ than just using new settings.

The market for pre-loved settings is really strong. I put two up for sale on LT awhile ago and got a lot of offers. So you can sell them if you want to start again.
