Possible to polish out "diamond cutting" from gold jewelry?

Occasionally come across a piece on ebay or antique store that I like with the exception of the diamond cutting. Not sure how deep into gold it goes so was wondering if it could be polished out.

most of the time it is deep enough it can not be polished out.
Sometimes it can, it all depends on the thickness and how deep the cuts go.
