Before the vendor sent us the wedding band, she said that the band had some porosity on the inside of the shank and that she sent it back to fix it. I actually thought at the time that this was good that the vendor was looking out for the quality of the piece. The vendor did this order for us on a rush schedule and the piece was supposed to be done in 10 business days- I think it took 12 because of the porosity issue. Anyway, it was still done in time for our engagement party and I was very grateful and happy.
However, my fiance found that the ring was a little too small for him. I recently posted because the wedding band needs to be resized and I have a dispute with the vendor over whether or not they will do it. I really appreciated all of your comments.
Anyway, when we had the ring in our possession I noticed that the inside of the ring bulged out a little at the midsection. I didn't think much of it at the time- but could this be how they 'fixed' the porosity issue and also why the ring doesn't fit well? How is porosity in a ring supposed to be fixed? Does the ring need to be completely recast or are the small holes just filled? Does this change anyone's advice regarding the last thread?
Thanks!
