If marijuana was as legal as beer, would you indulge? Not merely decriminalized, not restricted to medicinal use. "Indulging" includes just trying it once to see what it's like.

I wouldn't. I smoked a lot of pot in high school and college, and I think I'm just beyond that point in my life now. I don't have a problem with people who smoke pot, as long as they don't drive after doing it.

I, like Haven, smoked when in high school. I would not use now, it doesn't fit with my family and I's lifestyle. I however wouldn't have a problem with people smoking....it doesn't seem any more harmful than drinking-as long as there are laws (similar to those for alcohol) in place for smoking weed.

This is an oldie but goodie, I think it applies to this discussion. "Drugs: Case for Legalizing Marijuana" by Gore Vidal.

ETA: I think you may have to be logged in to view the article. If anyone's interested I bet you can find the article if you do a Google search for it. Sorry!

i don't have a problem with legalizing Marijuana it would then be worthless thus eliminate a lot of crimes.

There was a poll here a while ago about whether or not one thought marijuana use should be legalized. I'm not asking that....I'm wondering how many would actually use marijuana if it was legal. So... DF, will you or won't you light up if it's legal?

I also smoked pot in high school and college. Actually, I smoked quite a bit right into my mid- 20s. I also felt "over it" at some point but I think that had more to do with the fact that it was/is illegal than not enjoying it. When I'd start a new job or move to an entirely new area, it wasn't top-of-mind to find out where I could score some weed! It was of course perfectly acceptable to go out for drinks with new acquaintances or discuss wine preferences over lunch.

The fact that marijuana is illegal and that I am a school-teacher and that I have an 18 year old child is pretty much all that keeps me from occasional use now. I have no desire to go back to college-age frequency! I can't afford the calorie-laden munchies any more.

Never smoked it, nor would I if it were legal. At this point in my life, I'm pretty happy to relax with a glass of wine.

My poison of choice is a Mike's Hard Lemonade. Pretty light stuff. I've never smoked, never will. I don't care if others do, though I would have to leave the room until the smell dissipates (it makes me nauseous). I'm pretty interested to see what people respond to in this poll as well though. This is one of the more lively conversations that popped up during college and I always enjoyed the conversation.

If it was legal I'd probably try it. At age 30 I'm not super excited about the possibility of getting charged with possession, but I don't think pot is anymore harmful than my fave drug of choice, vino. It's most likely less harmful, really.

I'll admit that this was actually my first thought when I read your poll. There is no way I could handle eating all that junk food anymore. At least, my figure couldn't handle it!

The smell of pot makes me sick so I'll never touch it even if t was legalised. These days, I would rather indulge in a good bottle of red.

HI:

I might entertain the possibility. Never say never.

cheers--Sharon

Not for recreation. I smoked in high school. It made me super hungry, and then I would have to cook for all my friends late at night. Parents weren't very attentive. :snore:

Being ill these past two years, I have battled how to deal.. I can't take pain meds they make me sick. If I get to the point where I am in severe pain. I am sooo going to for medcinal RX.

I know not what you asked, but someone out there may have something similar to me, and if it helps so be it.....

Plain and simple:

Yes.

LOL!

DF, just so you know, sinfully pink has been away for quite a while now!

I voted "no" but if you'd given me a "maybe occasionally" option I might have chosen that...

The thing is that I recall the sensation of being high as being interesting and mostly pleasant, but I also recall that it was a huge time sump. I know I can easily lose huge lumps of time now doing other things - reading a book, watching television, playing on the computer... I'm not sure I'd want to add another option. I think I'd rather join T-Gal with that glass of wine.

Nope, been there and done that a hand full of times in high school. My grandma was hit head on Christmas Eve by a woman under the influence of it, I would hate to see it legal. If people were smart enough to use and stay at home, well then I am fine with it.

No.

Never in a million years. I've seen too many people's lives ruined because of the stuff. I wish they'd go the other way and make cigarettes illegal also.

I have actually never smoked it. I think it should be legalized though as I don't think it is any more harmful than alcohol or other drugs that are legal. However, I don't think I would be tempted to try it even if it were legal. But making it legal would eliminate many crimes pertaining to the drug and also bring money in to the cities/states in the USA so a win win IMO.

I think smoking tobacco is more harmful than smoking pot and I wish they would go further to ban all secondhand smoke in all cases. My philosophy is do what you want as long as it doesn't harm others. So smoke tobacco all you want but I don't want to breathe any of it please.

I have smoked pot, nor have I ever smoked cigarettes. That said, I do not have a problem with it being legalized.

I voted no, but only because I don't like being high. I have smoked in the past, and I could not possibly care less if people choose to do that.

No.

I did smoke some in HS/College, but it was not my favorite in the world, in part due to the fact that I was smoking and it was disgusting. The feeling wasn't enough to offset the fact that I can't stand the taste, smell or process of smoking. The only time I ever felt I got anything out of it was pot brownies.

It's a yes for me! I was big fan in high school and college and the only thing that keeps me away as an adult is that it's illegal. I enjoy it far more than drinking to wind down a bit and it never interfered in my life. I can't even remember the last time...

Nah, never had any interest in trying it.
