After having seen the elaborate erings with gigantic stones in the eye-candy section, I started to wonder about the average carat size of the erings owned by the pricescope ladies who have special interest in (or rather obsession with) diamonds. I expected the answer to be much bigger than my humble 1.12 ct ering. To confirm my suspicion, I searched for previous polls on the subject. In no time, I found an old post by "the other Jake" that shows the spec for most ladies'' first engagement ring is as follows: 1-1.25 ct, H color, and VS2 clarity. Although feeling a bit surprised by the results, I immediately realized that most newlyweds did not have much money starting out. Perhaps a similar poll for upgrade erings may reveal an answer that is more consistent with the eye-candies shown in this forum.

When you take the poll, please base your answer on your latest upgrade/downgrade or your current ering (if you have never had an upgrade). Thank you for your participation.

I''ll get answers for the othre 3 C''s later.

Someone did a huge PS ring poll last year and I believe found out that the average size was just about a carat. I''ll find it for you...

Yes, "the other jake" did a poll starting Dec 2006. There were a total of 3081 votes. Only 8% (235 people) had center stones over 2 carats. C''mom! Look at all the boulders in the eye-candy section. Either someone is sandbagging or more ladies are now having have SDS. I''ll let the results speak for themselves.

Here are the results from the huge poll last year:

Yes, I see. Very interesting results, but more consistent with the eyecandies, indeed. Thank you for the link.
This poll was done only months ago, so I do not expect to see much of a difference. However, I suspect the future trend iwill be larger and better cut diamonds with lower color and clarity. We are all being trained (or programmed).

These are interesting statistics which I believe are accurately representative of the current ownership.

I read these as 90 and 60 instead of .90 and .60 and did a double-take!
