does the difference in polish from ideal/excellent/very good remain after a diamond is set and worn for a period of time? i imagine that polish grain lines remain but was curious if daily use drops an excellent finish diamond down to a "lower level" with normal every day wear and tear?
thanks

I think it can depend. I know when some diamonds are traded in, after inspection sometimes repolishing is needed at a minimal cost, however I think with normal careful daily wear most diamond''s polish holds up well for years. Maybe one of the experts can chime in?

I doubt that the ex-id polish stays that way much.

Color doesn''t change. Clarity does - small chips can lower the clarity grade and it is common to see that on older pieces. There have been a couple of such cases posted. And it doesn''t need to be a thousand years of wear either.
