how important are polish and symmetry? I used the HCA and i got all excellents and a score of 1, but the stone only has good polish and symmetry.

cool price difference here: http://diamonds.pricescope.com/symm.asp

plenty of rounds with ex symmetry and polish. between ex and vg, there is really no discernable difference to the casual observer. good and below are less preferred.

To quote Belle - when looking at top cut diamonds, details such as polish and symmetry should be taken care of. Good and above will look the same to the untrained eye it is said.

Polish - no difference. Symmetry - perhaps a more minute dif. In the end it''s what''s listed on paper - and just shows the care of the cutter. It''s a bit of a miind thing. Does it matter to you?

Hi! A big factor is whether you''re getting a round brilliant or a fancy cut. Polish & symmetry aren''t as important in a fancy cut.

it''s true, with well cut stones these little details (p/s) are taken care of. you won''t find a diamond with great cut and only ''good'' p/s.
