The reset is finally finished. It took quite a bit longer than expected. One SA said it was because of all the CAD back and forth, but we saw and approved only one…. Who knows.

There are elements I really like, one I’m not happy about/ not certain of, and one strange (to me) phenomenon.

Here are a few pics. Before this gets boring. First: my old setting was 7/8 eternity. None of us realized this is 1/2. It was on the approved CAD. None of us realized the difference. Bummer
second is the new Pair from the top.
Third is a pic Ing flowers. Because I love flowers.
The last is the old setting (bottom worn away by anniversary band (bar set diamond eternity band)

Positives: I like the hidden halo in the platinum basket.

Uncertain: it sits much lower than the precious setting. I like the look from the side, but from the top both DH and I feel it looks smaller.

Strange: the diamond has a clear crystal inclusion. It’s eye clean, but with a loupe, it used to magnify all over the interior pavilion facets. Now, it’s much harder to see. I did t expect that given that most of the light action comes from the top. Clearly, the new sides have dampened this effect. It’s not bad, I just don’t it fascinating!

Negatives: the 1/2 eternity vs 3/4 for the wedding band. I’m also not thrilled with the size difference between the two bands. It looks like I’m back to another stacker consideration….

Any thoughts? I have a thread on the bar set eternity and stacker, but I only have my mobile today and can’t link it. I’ll try to remember tomorrow.

I think the new setting is very pretty. The head doesn't look too low to me. You'll likely adjust to that. I don't quite understand the band width issue. Were the bands of the two rings supposed to be the same size? If so, they need to remake the wedding band. I'd also ask if they can add some pave to the shank of the engagement ring to make it at least 6/8 diamonds.

I think it looks beautiful! I am sorry about the half in the eternity vs three quarters since you were not aware of that. I also see what you are saying about the bands being different widths - they didn’t explain that to you? Sounds like you might want a redo of the engagement ring - or is that not feasible? I do like the set though - it is beautiful! Not sure that I would have zeroed in on any of it had you not pointed it out. They are your rings though and you need to be happy with them. As far as the setting height, the new setting head appears to be wider than the old one so the diamond can be set lower. I think it looks great but there again, you need to be happy with them!

@diamondseeker2006 - thank you! I think I’ve explained the differing bands poorly in this thread. The smaller is my original wedding band, and while I’ve never though of myself a superstitious, I can’t come to grips with not wearing it. So I knew they would be different, but I thought it would be close enough. I was wrong - lol. However, I think a spacer band would help. I had some fun options posted in a earlier thread. When I’m back to my computer I’ll link them.

That’s a great suggestion - I’ll ask for more pave to be added, just not sure how willing they are to go there…. Plus, it’s a branded band I’m guessing they will want it to go back or be remade. I’ll have to decide how important it is.

@MissGotRocks , thank you - you are always so sweet!
Regarding the 3/4 pave, I am surprised that none of us noticed - but I saw the CAD after I it was finished and I noticed - and it was definitely 1/2. The funny thing is that we were looking at the same brand for stacking rings, and they kept selecting 3/4 to better match the wedding band. Our favorite SA was involved, but not in charge. I’m fairly certain she would have caught it.

The wedding band is my original, and not the same brand or design as the new er setting. The original was damaged beyond repair, and I really liked this setting. We had them add the platinum head.

I’m hoping to get used to it. I had the other setting for 12+ years, so it may take some time.

Ok, I didn’t realize you already had the wedding band. They really did a nice job in matching it. I agree - sometimes you have to live with something to see if you can live with it - know what I mean? It is a beautiful set no matter what and I think they showcase your diamond beautifully!

I think they look great, and for me, I'm not sure that the width difference would bother me, but that's me. And I tend to like lower settings vs. higher, so I actually much prefer the new height. I think it looks great as is, but I also would prefer the 3/4 and I'd see if they could add the additional stones to make it that.

I think the new head looks great, but I like low settings. I understand the annoyance about the eternity not being the same coverage, but that should be fixable, albeit with some more money spent.
